Tired tired tired... 疲れた疲れた疲れた・・・

We went back to Kathmandu. It was a looooooong bus ride. It took over 10 hours. We were sooooo tired. :-(
We have to return to Kathmandu to get an Indian visa.

１０時間以上の長距離バス。
すーーーーーごく疲れた。

カトマンドゥーへ戻ったら、インドのビザを取らないといけない・・・

Fat baby buddha 太ったベービーブッダ！？

There are a lot of temples in Lumbini. Vietnamese temple, French temple, German temple, Chinese temple, Korean temple, Thai temple, Japanese temple…but not so many monks. We visited the exact spot where the Buddha was born. It’s a World Heritage site. Supposedly, the exact stone he was born on was excavated just last century. They know it is the exact stone because it has an impression of the baby Buddha on it (maybe his foot?). He must’ve been a very heavy baby! :-P

ルンビニにはたくさんのお寺がある。
ベトナム寺、フランス寺、ドイツ寺、中国寺、韓国寺、タイ寺、日本寺・・・
けれどそんなに僧侶がいないのはなぜ？？
私達はブッダが産まれたと言われる場所に行った。
そこは世界遺産で観光地になっている。
私は本当にそこがブッダの生まれた場所だとはあまり信じられない・・・

We went to Lumbini, which is the birth place of Buddha (aka Siddhartha Gautama). We arrived after sunset. It was difficult find a place to stay. Eventually, we decided to stay at the Nepali Temple. Accommodation was “free”, but we had to make a donation.
We found a cheap, delicious local restaurant. Dal Bhaat (Nepali curry set) was only 40Rs (less than CA$0.7) – and all you can eat!!

今日は、ポカラからブッダの生まれたと言われているルンビニという町へ移動。
ルンビニに着いたのは日が暮れた後で、ホテルを探すのはとても大変だった。
結局私達はネパール寺に泊まることにした。
料金は無料だけど、寄付をしなくてはいけない。

夜ご飯は、安くておいしいローカルレストランを見付けた。
ダル・バート（ネパールカレーのセット）がなんと４０Rs（約６８円）で食べ放題。
お腹いっぱい、満足満足！＾－＾！

World peace 世界平和

We went to Pokhra Regional Museum and the Japanese World Peace Pagoda today. It was a bit hard to climb the mountain to go to the Peace Pagoda, but the view was amazing!

今日はポカラ博物館と日本平和塔に行った。
日本平和塔へ行く道はなかなか大変だったけれど、そこからの景色はとてもすばらしかった。

Don't give me ravies! 狂犬病にはなりたくな～い！

I did laundry this morning. I dried the washing on top of our hotel roof. In the evening, it started raining. It was out when it start raining. I didn't want our laundry to get wet again, so I ran back to our hotel to pick up our laundry. On the way, some dogs barked at me. I couldn't pass those dogs. I was in rush. I wanted to hurry, but those dogs were scary. I called a shop man for help and ran into his shop. Finally, the dogs went away. Why did dogs bark at me? Because I was running? There are many owner less dogs in Nepal. Nobody runs, nobody jogs in Nepal. Is that why? Or maybe I’m just on the dog’s blacklist, too? :-P

This brunch, Kate and Martin taught me a lot of history of Nepal and Tibet. I’m ashamed to say that I don’t know about history so much. I was ashamed of my lack of knowledge.


Something wrong... 何か違う・・・

今日は朝から洗濯をした。
ホテルの屋上に干す場所があったので、そこに干して外出した。
なんと夕方になって雨が降り出した。
せっかく洗濯した物をまた濡らしたくなかったので、走って取り込みに行った。
その途中、数匹の野良犬が吠えて付いて来た。
洗濯を濡らしたくないからすごく急いでいるのに、その犬達をかわせずすごく困っていた。
おまけにその犬達は今にも飛びかかってきそうで、怖くなり近くの店に入り助けを求めた。
お店の人が犬を追い払ってくれてひと安心。
・・・結局ホテルの人が洗濯物を取り込んでくれてた。
それにしても何であの犬達は私に吠えかかって来たんだろう。
私が走っていたから？
ネパールにはたくさんの野良犬がいる。
ネパールでは誰も走ったりジョギングしたりしない。
ネパール人は時間を気にせずすごくゆっくり過ごしている。
だから犬にとっては、走っている私が珍しかったのかな？？

それとも私の名前は犬のブラックリストに載ってるの？

今日、ブランチのときにKateとMartinにたくさんのネパールとチベットの歴史を教わった。
恥ずかしながら、世界の歴史（日本史もだけど）にはめっきり弱い私・・・
学生の時にちゃんと勉強しとくべきたっだな～～。

We rented a mortorbike today. We went around the town of Pokhra. Even though, it wasn't good weather, it was very very fun!! :-)

今日は、Kate、Martinと一緒にモーターバイクをレンタルしてツーリングに出かけた。
天気は良くなかったが、す～～～～～～っごく楽しかった！！＾０＾！！

Pizza with lovely friends.

We didn't nothing special. We used very sloooooooow internet... BUT, something good happened today. We met Kate and Martin. YAY! :-) We had saparated in Gorkha. We went to dinner together to eat pizza!


Home less cows... For Hindu's, cows are sacred amimals. They don't kill cows. That's why, there are a lot of home less cows.
野良猫ならぬ野良牛・・・　ヒンドゥー教徒にとっては牛は神聖な動物。殺したり食べたりしない。だから野良牛がどこの町にもたくさんいるわけ。


今日は特に何もせず過ごす。
インターネットカフェに行ったけど、あまりにスローすぎてイライラ！（怒）
でもその帰り道、ゴルカで別れたKateとMartinに会った。イェ～イ！！
その日の夜は、彼らと一緒にビザレストランへディナーに行った。

No more stinky Amy-ko!!

We went to Siddha Cave. It was foggy, and the way was very slippery. I fell down many times. :'-( I almost slid down off a cliff.
We went to Pokhra. It was same as Chitwan National Park : When we got off the bus, many taxi drivers and hotel touts were waiting for us. We just kept saying "No thank you." and left to walk to the lake side.
We finally took a shower after an interval of 4 days. Gross!!

今日はポカラに行く前に、バンディプアから麓の町の間にあるシッダ洞窟へ行った。
朝霧が出ていて山道はとても滑りやすく何度もこけた。
もうちょっとで崖から落ちそうにもなった。危ない危ない・・・

麓の町でバスを拾いポカラへ。
ポカラに到着しバスを降り、私達を待ち受けていたのはチトワン国立公園と同じで、タクシーやホテルの勧誘。
「No thank you」とだけ言って彼らを振り切り、レイクサイドへ向かった。

やっと４日ぶりにシャワーにたどり着けた。汚～～～い！！

　

No more meat!

Before we left Manakamana, we went to see Hindu temple. We saw many sacrificed animals. No head Goats, No head chickens... I can't eat meat any more!! I will be vegetatian.
Bandipur is very a small town in the mountains. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't good. It was raining a littel. We couldn't see the nice view.

バンディプアに向かう前に、マナカマナの有名なヒンドゥー教のお寺に行った。
そこは巡礼の人達で長い列。
生けにえのゴートや鶏を持って並んでいる人もいる。
生けにえにされた動物は頭を切り落とされて、お寺から出てくる。
そこらじゅう動物の血が落ちていて、石畳は赤く染まっている。
あまりのグロテスクさで肉類はもう口にすることはできないだろう・・・。
この日を境にベジタリアンになった。

バンディプアはとても小さな山間の町。
残念ながら小雨も降り出し、いい景色は見れなかった。

One day treck 一日トレック

We walked from Gorkha to Manakamana, which is on a mountain top. I didn't think we could arrive - it took about 9 hours!! We didn't know the exact route. We got lost many times. On the way, we met local people. They were very kind to us. They kept giving us mandarin oranges to eat!

私達はゴルカからマナカマナまでの山道を９時間以上かけて歩いた。
ちゃんとした道が分からなくて、地元の人に尋ねながら歩きまくった。
何度も何度も道に迷って、今日中にちゃんとマナカマナに着くのだろうかと心配しながら・・・
けれど、地元の人はいい人ばかりで、みかんをたくさん分けてくれた。

We went to Gorkha Darbar. It's an old palace. Hindus sometimes sacrifice animals there.

今日はゴルカ王宮へ行った。
時々、そこでは動物の生けにえが見れるという。

Foreigners should pay more!

We went to Gorkha today. It was difficult to find a budget hotel, but Chris found a cheap local hotel. There was no English signboad, only Nepali script. Chris had studied a bit of the Nepali script. Good job, Chris! The cost was only 150 Rs($2.5CAN) for 4 people!! (Unfortunately no shower.)

Gorkha　ゴルカ


チトワン国立公園からゴルカへ。
ゴルカは安いホテルを探すのが大変だった。
でも、クリスが安いローカルホテルを見付けた！
英語の看板なんて出てなくて、ネパール語だけの看板があるだけ。
さすがクリス！ネパール語の勉強をした甲斐があったね！
実はクリスは、ネパールに入ってすぐにネパール語の勉強本を買ってコツコツと勉強していたのである。
彼の集中力はすごいものがある。羨ましいくらい！

We played with a elephant in the river. After our crazy elephant ride, I was a bit afraid of it, but there was no problem!

今日は象と一緒に川で水遊び。象は一日に一回水浴びをする。その時、一緒に川に入るという訳だ。 最初は怖かったけど、だんだん慣れてきて楽しかった！
